Things to do in Hong Kong

Harbour Cruise on the Star Ferry

The cheapest harbour cruise in the world since 1888 definitely offers the best views of Hong Kong’s skyline and Victoria Harbour.  If you have more time, check out the hop on-hop off tour of the harbour, every hour on the hour on the restored 1920’s Star Ferry!

Ocean Park Visit

Only 15 minutes from Grand Hyatt, Ocean Park is Hong Kong’s most popular theme park featuring a cliff side cable car and other thrilling rides as well as amazing aquarium exhibits and Giant Pandas, Red Pandas, sealions, and dolphins. A must see in Hong Kong

Seafood Lunch at Sai Kung

One hour from the Hotel lies the pretty seaside town of Sai Kung.  Hoi Pong Square is home to a dozen quality seafood restaurants. The wide variety of fresh seafood in the glass tanks outside the restaurants and the relaxing waterfront scenery further enrich this unique dining experience.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon in Stanley

Stanley is a series of winding sidewalks walled in by t-shirts, clothes, Chinese art, figurines and crafts, birdcages, shoes, plastic toys and chops.  The no. 6 buns back to Central, one of the world’s great roller-coaster rides, is a must, as is lunch at The Boathouse.

Hike one of Hong Kong’s Great Trails

Hong Kong has plenty of nice hikes including those found in Lantau Island, Lamma Island, The Peak, Shek O and more. They vary from easy, leisurely strolls to seriously tough treks.  All hikes are accessible from the hotel by taking MTR, local ferries, taxies and buses.  Please contact our Concierge for recommendations.

Bar Hop Your Way Through Soho and Hollywood Road

This area has been revitalised by the Mid-levels escalator and the surging Hong Kong economy.  Take a stroll amongst the bars, café and boutiques inside the area bordered by Gough, Staunton, Elgin, Shelley, Old Bailey and Gage Streets.  The whole area is positively overflowing with funky little shops, great little restaurants and an artistic, almost bohemian atmosphere.

Try Some Local Food, such as Dim Sum and Congee

No trip to Hong Kong would be complete without trying dim sum.  These are delightful, snacks served in steaming bamboo baskets and eaten with pot and pots of Chinese tea for breakfast and lunch. Steamed pork buns, shrimp dumplings, beef balls and pan-fried squid with spicy salt are just some of the local favourites.

Visit to the Peak

The world’s steepest funicular railway hauls people up Victoria Peak in eight minutes.  Once at the top, enjoy the panoramic views of Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour.  Not to be missed.

Have Your Fortune Told in Temple Street Night Market

This hive of activities buzzes relentlessly with hundreds of shoppers and hawkers.  You can bargain for already inexpensive clothing, jewellery and small electronic items and have your fortune told.
